Chapter 9 Fighting Irish Men and Women dominate the District

Congratulations to the Guys and Girls Fighting Irish Cross country to for the dominating performance this past Saturday at the Glen Oak District Finals. The Guys started the day off by placing 6 runners in the top 16 places and winning the title by a 50 point margin. Senior Alex Phillip won the title with his own teammate senior Matt Sollenberger in close pursuit to finish in 2nd place. Colin Scahill finished in 6th place with Chase Powers, Nick Steel and Jake Pentasuglio rounding out the scoring.
For the Ladies team this is their 12th straight District title. The Ladies had 6 finish in the top 15 places. The ladies were led by Sophomore Theresa Hagey who finished in 2nd place. She was closely followed by Nina Zraik and Amelia Moll. Sadie Porchowsky, Natalie Tobin and Quincy Powers rounded out the scoring as the Lady Irish won the title by almost 60 points.
Both teams will now attempt to qualify for the state title this Saturday at Youngstown Boardman. The guys will run at 11:45 am and the Ladies will run at 2:15 pm.
